Author Workshop

On Thursday 26th May a number of classes were invited to attend an author workshop in conjunction with Stoke Newington literacy festival. The authors did a fantastic job; very funny and engaging with the children.

The reception class were visited by author Ben Bailey Smith and illustrator,  Sav Aykuz who have written and illustrated I Am Bear.

The multi talented Ben Bailey Smith (aka rapper Doc Brown) debuted a rollicking read-aloud about a decidedly mischievous bear.

With jaunty rap-style rhyme, first-time children’s author Ben Bailey Smith joined debut illustrator Sav Akyuz for a picture book starring a lovable, slightly naughty bear whose antics had our children smiling in solidarity.

Year 1 & 2 were visited by Trish Cooke who has written over 20 children’s book, however she is most famous for ‘So Much’

A tender and humorous look at modern family life, with exuberant art from the illustrator of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

Years 3 & 4 were visited by Ciaran Murtagh  who has written many children’s book, most recently ‘The Fin Spencer’ series.

‘Fin Spencer is in big trouble. He upset Mrs Johnson, and now he’s not going on the class trip. But he has to, after all he’s a born action hero! Stevie Knuckles Action Camp is where Fin belongs.’

There will be a table in Stoke Newington Bookshop this weekend specially for the books from today’s events; many of them signed by the authors.
