Whole foods Schools to market project 2014

This term, year 4 are taking part in an exciting project with Whole Foods and the charity School Food Matters.

The project aims to encourage every child to enjoy fresh sustainable food at school and know where their food comes from.

The project has already involved the school setting up a vegetable patch and growing our own fruit and vegetables which were looked after by year 1 last year. Whole foods and the charity School Food matters donated the seeds and helped us to get started with our vegetable growing.

This term, there has already been a couple of trips to help the children understand more about where our food comes from.

In September, 6 children visited Garsons Farm in Esher, Surrey where they picked their own fruit and vegetables to bring back to school. Another small group of children visited the Stoke Newington Whole Foods branch and took part in a mini marketing workshop on how to design labels for our jams and chutneys.

The whole class will be involved in making Jams and chutneys from produce we have grown at school or picked at the farm.

The jams and chutneys will then be sold by the children at the Whole Foods Store in Stoke Newington on 22nd October. Please come and support us and buy our produce!
