Relationship between governor and school: one children present

I am in my second term as a school governor at St. Mary’s and very much enjoy being part of such a vibrant and happy community. I have one child at the school, since my eldest left for secondary school, and am honoured to be able to support my son and his peers in ensuring the school delivers the excellent education that all children deserve. I taught Maths at Clapton Girls’ Academy for four years so have a good understanding of the journey through education that we are preparing our children for. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in marketing, so have experience of financial planning and management and extensive recruitment experience, which have proved to be useful skills in my role as chair of governor. I now work at the Department for Education, so have a broader view of the educational landscape across the country which I bring to my role as a governor.

Relationship between governor and school: one child present

I have one child currently at the school, an elder child who attended the school through from nursery to year 6, and close links with St Mary’s Church where I currently act as vice chair of the Parish Church Council. I have really appreciated the underlying values and ethos the school instils in the children, and the sense of community it engenders. My aim is to help ensure that the links between the school and the church and those values are maintained and further embedded into the fabric of the school. I work as a solicitor and look to utilise that experience/skill set in my role as school governor.
